Stars Hanging in the Window
By Joyce Mauldin
There it was, as I passed by, memories from the past had caught my eye.
All over the nation you could see, whether it was one two or three,
men and women serving their country.
World War II when Japan attacked,
and everyone praying their loved ones would come back.

In hopes it would keep our country free, donations were made willingly.
There were great big piles of scrap metal in Shawnee,
all to be fired back at our country.
Huge B-52 bombers, flew over our heads,
all were in formation, and one of them lead.
It was a sight for someone as young as me,
I didn't realize how serious it could be.
You had to have rationing books for sugar, tires and such, even though you had
some money, you couldn't buy much, and there were three.

Wars come and they go, and so it will be,
until Jesus comes back to set us free.
We praise God for our fine young women and men.
Everyone was praying for their next of kin.
The war was ended with a great big boom,
pictures reveal it was like a giant mushroom.
People were happy and hearts were aglow, and they took down those.

Another war, and bravely they go, who willingly fight,
to defend this country, so all will be right.
Many of our precious young people we're losing,
and it really is quite confusing.
I wish the war would end without all the hate,
and the troops could all come home to their mates.
If you have loved ones that are over there,
they should be put out everywhere,
