Wait 'Til Next Year

It breaks your heart. It was designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then, just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.

Hi! I'm your Christian Friend. said...

Dear Brother Barry,
Blessings to you in Jesus name. I know the feeling when you follow a favorite team through the season and into the playoffs. They win a lot of games and have the best record, but they don't win the one or ones that count for it all. I have felt that way about all my teams at one time or another. As you say, "Wait 'til next year"

I feel at times the same way about real life. I'll be going through a period of time when all seems to be going well from day to day, enjoying God's victory and peace, only to seemingly crash and burn. The past couple of days the latter has been the case. A lot on my mind to deal with and I have had some tough moments.

But all isn't lost. My thoughts direct me to the Word of God and the comfort that it gives.

1 Cor. 9:23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. 24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

Through Christ Jesus my Lord and Savior this "race" or "game" of life will be won and the prise that waits will be received.

In the love of Jesus Christ...your friend...Steven
